Show Us How You Roll: Share Your Bike to Work Day Photos With Worldchanging

david%20gartner%20photography.jpgMay is Bike Month across the United States, and in most cities this Friday is National Bike to Work Day (Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area celebrate Bike to Work Day on May 14; Denver will hold it on June 25).

We know that many of you are bike commuters, and we'd love to hear from you. In honor of Bike to Work Day and your commitment to a sustainable future, we invite you, along with Worldchanging readers around the world, to
share photos of your daily ride to work on flickr! Bring your camera along for the ride on Friday and show us how you roll. What does your route look like? Are there danger spots or streets that can be improved? Impressive bike stations? Want to show off your retro/high-tech/beater/work-of-art commuter bike? How about a happy crowd of bike commuters? Document it all and send us the pictures!

If you aren't a bike commuter, then why not get out there on Friday and give it a try? You won't be alone: here in Seattle there were 23,000 riders last year on Bike to Work Day. And chances are good that it won't take any longer than your normal commute. According to the League of American Cyclists, more than 50 percent of Americans live within five miles of their workplace. For trips of three miles or less, a bike is nearly always faster than a car, while urban bike trips of five to seven miles usually take about the same amount of time or less than the same trip by car.

Bike to Work Day isn't just about riding to work one day a year, it about showing your support for alternative transportation that reduces carbon emissions, eases traffic and congestion, lowers your personal stress, saves money, and improves your health. So get out there, and be sure to bring your camera to show us how you roll.
