One Last Drink at McLeod Residence

We were extremely disappointed by the recent news that the McLeod Residence in Belltown will be closing its doors on October 31. Owner Buster McLeod stated in an announcement on the gallery's blog that, although "Everyone at the city has been EXTREMELY kind and helpful and would never shut us down if they didn't have to," they are now "out of options" regarding their unusual space and will need to move out.

The McLeod is a cool bar, and there are plenty of cool bars in Seattle. But this one was pretty special, in our opinion, and we're sad to see it go. Lele and Buster McLeod and co. always created a very unique and open-minded home for cutting edge and exciting art, Town Hall-style discussions (like this one on Sound Transit), and unique events like those hosted by small-business networking hub Biznik. There was a quality of scenius to the place that's often lacking in Seattle these days.

So we'll be heading to McLeod for one last toast at least once before the month ends. And we hope that we'll see a second version reopening elsewhere, as Buster's post suggests it might.

We are sorry to see the McLeod Residence close too. We loved having Biznik networking events there. People would come, see how cool the space was and immediately feel like we were living up to our tagline, "business networking that doesn't suck." When all the credit should've gone to Buster, Lele and the crew. We can't wait to see where they resurface.

If you want to hear some progressive local music while enjoying the last days of McLeod, I recommend checking out the Future Collective Tuesday October 21st at 9:30. The event is free and will feature several premieres of original work by emerging Seattle composers and collaborators!

RIP McLeod! It was so cool, it seemed like I wasn't allowed in there, but I liked it a lot anyway and am sorry to see it go. I enjoyed the Giant Squid exhibit.
