Coming to a City Near You: Climate Change Rally

Bill McKibben, a journalist, author and frequent contributor to Salon.com, has banded together with several of his friends to create the climate change rally organization website http://www.stepitup07.org.

The site is a place for people and groups to organize rallies across the US on April 14th. So far, there are over 600 rallies in 46 states registered on the website. You can search the site to find one near you, or you can organize your own if you feel so inclined.

Have some free time on the April 14th? Well, find a rally near you and get out and help save the world.

If you live in Portland and want to join a StepItUp event on April 14, consider taking a "Polar Bear Plunge" in the Willamette River to draw attention to the plight of the bears and benefit Focus the Nation, a nationwide initiative to join more than 1,000 schools, colleges, universities, churches and community groups in a one-day national symposium on climate stabilization and clean energy on Thursday, January 31, 2008.
