Sometimes, it seems like it's incredibly hard to have any impact on the environment at all. So many things going on, so much information out there. If you're wondering what your next (or first!) step towards a greener environment could be, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power tries to help out. They offer quite a few programs that allow you to go more green with minimal effort.
The easiest step of them all: Switch to green power. Yes, it costs you slightly more, but you can be assured that you're now supporting renewable energies. Not only do they have less environmental impact, they help reduce the U.S. dependency on oil imports. And while you're paying maybe $3 extra a month, the DWP even provides you with two additional CFL light bulbs.
Of course, their support does not stop there. The DWP provides free shade trees for your home. It recycles old fridges. It offers rebates for energy efficient appliances. They even have a list with twelve easy steps to save water and energy in your home.
So take advantage of the fact that L.A. is trying to do the right thing, and check out the offers!
