Gomez -- a British band currently touring in the United States to promote its latest album, titled How We Operate -- has gone green, with a little help from CLIF Bar. The quintet is getting around on a biodiesel bus, offering an organic cotton T-shirt option to fans, and buying wind energy credits to offset carbon dioxide emissions.

What's it like touring in a biodiesel bus? "It smells like french fries," says a band member on a video showcasing Gomez's enviro-efforts. "Makes me hungry in the morning."

Gomez became the very first CLIF GreenNotes artists last fall. The CLIF GreenNotes program encourages musicians to go green, because "touring the country takes an environmental toll on the planet: exhaust from buses, selling merchandise, powering venues."

CLIF GreenNotes also encourages concertgoers and fans to take personal action, reducing their carbon footprint by switching to CFL bulbs, eating organic, carpooling, and making other small lifestyle changes. They can also download a free, exclusive Gomez track -- a live version of "See the World" (mp3).

Gomez will perform, along with Ben Kweller, on February 21 at 8 pm at the Wiltern, located at 3790 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles. Tickets cost $25.50 - 27.50.
