Asia's Energy Quandaries
Emily Gertz, 18 Feb 05

Currently featured on nytimes.com home page: "Asia's Energy Grab," a brief multimedia feature (Flash format, with audio) on how international security, global warming, human rights issues and more are intertwined in China and India's increased energy needs and rapidly growing economies. As developing nations, China and India are not bound to even the Kyoto Protocol's mild targets for capping greenhouse gas emissions, although they are on the way to being major carbon producers, and big customers for oil and natural gas on the world market.

If you're just catching up on this facet of contemporary geo-politics, it's a very good primer.
