Big Picture TV webcasts a couple dozen interviews with folks they term "global leaders in sustainability." While much of it will be old hat for those following these issues, there are some pieces of real interest here, like this interview with Matthis "Ecological Footprint" Wackernagel. And their mission statement is obviously of a worldchanging pursuasion:
Big Picture looks at the situation in the world today in its broader, more positive context. Problems such as climate change, pollution and nuclear arms proliferation are all too familiar. They are also only half the story. The bigger picture is about solutions.
Hi Alex. I run the Big Picture site and found your essay on the word "sustainability" very interesting. I agree totally, but remain unconvinced that there is a better alternative that will make those not on the wavelength understand what it's all about. I also agree that the interconnectedness between the natural and social environment needs to be stressed - I'm just not sure whether anything based on the colour green does that. I like blue as it is a primary colour that incorporates green, but perhaps goes beyond it to include the social component. What about bright blue?!
