The killing fields are back in business, this time in Sudan. The Passion of the Present is an effort to not only raise awareness of the erupting genocide there, but to provide up-to-the-minute links about what you can do. I'm sending my check, I hope you will too, but the larger point, in a Worldchanging context, is that we may finally be reaching the point where public opinion can be mobilized (with the help of the blogosphere) to halt a genocide before all that's left to do is stand over the ashes and bones and solemnly speechify about "never again..."
Blogging has never yet stopped a bullet or put out a fire, but it's also true that Edmund Burke was right when he wrote that we can make no greater mistake than to do nothing because we can do only a little. This is a worthwhile effort. If you have a blog, why not give them a link?
